Fighting corruption?

It is a sad day for our country when we will have to sit as mute spectators watching the news unfold on TV screen that a person who stood up to fight against crime and corruption is brutally burnt alive. Does not our blood boil? Why are we like this? How can we forget that Yashwant Sonawane, an Additional DC, was burnt alive by the oil mafia? How to forget the death of Shanmugam Manjunath, an Engineer in the Indian Oil Corporation, who was shot dead near Lucknow for investigating adulterated fuel. How did we manage to forget Satyendra Dubey who was killed for fighting corruption in highway project at Bihar. It is true that public memory is very short. We talk about it, discuss it, write about it and forget it. That is the extent of our public participation in fighting corruption. Because we know that once we raise our voices, we too may meet the same fate. Observing Anti-Corruption Day is meaningless and futile. It frustrates me that people talk 'high and dry' about corruption and call the public to wake up and fight corruption. After alighting from the stage, they go back to paying bribes to all and sundry to get their works done. It is frustrating to know we cannot do anything. I read today about the illegal money hoarding of the Gandhi family and Sonia Gandhi. And again I felt frustrated that we are helpless. Tell me what to do?

At least, Manjunath Shanmugam is not forgotten, http://www.manjunathshanmugamtrust.org/
"It is frustrating to know we cannot do anything." If you start with that thought, you can actually do nothing.

Mam My thought is the key for eradication of corruption from the globe is just reducing the pace of life. I think most of us all now now started feeling that the world is advancing with such a pace that it is highly impossible for even higher class people to afford that. so forget about a common man. Best example is within 1 year of entry of 3g networks government talking already about 4g networks. Although its true that many people bought 3g sim cards but is it possible for a common man or even a rich man to afford all the services available in 3g cards like video calling and heavy data charge?
So my solution for the problem is government has to put brakes to the unnecessarily increased pace of life. because nowadays everybody wants their job to be done in seconds ( faster than their thoughts). And getting salary of 50k per months has become common. So everybody is ready to pay bit more to get their job done. If we the common people are ready to bribe then how can we expect an eradication of the infectious corruption!!!

and by the way mam the corruption is not only in a higher level but even in smallest offices of India. My dad is a professor and he has to pay bribe every month to a clerk to pass his salary bill. Not only him even the scavenger working working in his college also pays some amount to the clerk of D.I.E.T, Kumta, Karwar to get his salary bill passed. Can you believe it? And this corruption is the result of economic imbalance created in the community by MNCs where some of the CEOs get 5-8 lakhs per month where as a common cant even dream of earning that much in his whole life. Just wonder why the politicians never think the way we think.

I too agree that public memory is very short (atleast in India) and we discuss the issue today and forget it tomorrow. Because we Indians are very poor in adopting good things and sacrificing for a good future (Gandhiji is an exception). So my point is we dont have to be helpless, instead of only discussing we the youth of India should adopt good habits of anti-corruption.
And the second point is the corruption arises when you are very desperate to get some job done. Instead when they ask us for a bribe, either inform lokayukta like a good citizen or sacrifice that job. So that we can reduce the number of people paying the bribe atleast ( although we cant control the people taking bribe).
Simple example of sacrificing would be like, if the government keeps on increasing the petrol prices we the citizens should stop using all the vehicles use cycles or go to your work places by walk. It is all in our hand. Government or anybody cant control us if we are sure of what we are upto.
This idea is definitely not impossible. The Indian youth has the power of turning any crisis upside down.
But the main problem of Indian youth is it is becoming more money and comfort oriented, has forgotten the culture, they are careless of their and country's future. All they want to do is to enjoy on their parents' hard earned money.
