Pen folio: Blurred Boundaries

Mother’s Day has come and gone. Many asked me why we should celebrate this Day when we have always revered our mothers in various forms or any such Days of western origin for that matter. I asked them why we should celebrate festivals of Gods when they are being worshipped everyday.

Yathra Naryasthu Poojyanthe, Ramanthe Thathra Devathaha - the Gods find pleasure there, where the Women are worshipped; And that's supposedly India!
Enough has been seen, heard and written about the country/Nation where women are worshipped and the Nation is symbolized by a mother-god and the women on street and homes are abused most.
Whats the point ? - the point is that Nation of worshippers of Gods and Women is a concept collectively we wish to achieve, which assume a certain supreme level of evolution of consciousness, while as individuals stuck in lower/perverted paths of evolution live & behave the way we do ...
So, west or east, celebration of Gods or Women or relationships viz., Father, Mother, Daughter, Son, Lovers, or concepts viz., Environment, Food, .... et al is just an instrument of civilization to remind/kindle our conscience about things we might've just taken for granted.... we do celebrate Birthdays as well as Deathdays of our beloveds much long after they're dead and gone ... we do have socio-religious insturments to pray and thank all those who ever inhabited this earth and contributed to our gift of life ... like everything else a lot of us reduce them to rituals, while actually living a life which violates the spirit of all that was intended ...
